  Function Description

IS220PPRAS1A is a HART enabled analog input/output module developed by General Electric and is part of the Mark VIe control system. It serves as a critical connection point, providing electrical interfaces between one or two input/output (I/O) Ethernet networks and analog input/output terminal boards. This package includes a standardized processor board suitable for all Mark VIe distributed I/O packages, as well as a customized acquisition board for specific requirements of analog input functionality. With powerful analog input capabilities, HART communication support, and a range of connection options, it is a valuable supplement for industrial systems that rely on precise analog signal management and communication with intelligent field devices.

  Features

Analog input capability: capable of managing up to 10 analog inputs, making it a valuable component for processing various analog signals within industrial systems.

Current loop input: For current loop input, the load terminal resistor is conveniently located on the terminal board. PHRA can sense the voltage across these resistors, which helps to accurately measure and interpret current loop signals.

Current loop output: Supports two 4-20 mA current loop outputs. This feature is crucial for sending control signals or data to compatible devices.

HART Communication Relay: In 4-20 mA mode, PHRA can relay high-speed addressable remote sensor (HART) messages between HART enabled field devices and asset management systems (AMS). This feature enables seamless communication and data exchange with intelligent field instruments.

Flexible device connectivity: Field devices that support HART can be connected through any input or output, providing versatility for the setup and integration of analog devices.

Powerful input and output connections: Input is achieved through dual RJ45 Ethernet connectors, ensuring reliable and redundant network connectivity. In addition, the use of a 3-pin connector simplifies power input. Establish output connection through DC-62 pin connector, which can seamlessly connect with the corresponding terminal board connector. This simplified connection simplifies the installation and maintenance process.

Visual diagnosis: equipped with indicator lights LED, providing clear visual diagnosis at a glance. These LEDs can help users quickly evaluate the status and performance of the battery pack.

Local diagnostic serial communication: For in-depth diagnostic and configuration tasks, local serial communication can be established through the infrared port. This feature allows for convenient interaction with PHRA, thereby facilitating system maintenance and troubleshooting.

  Installation

Securely install the terminal board you have selected in the desired position and begin installation.

Insert a single PHRA I/O pack directly into the connector on the terminal board to ensure a secure connection.

To enhance mechanical stability, please use threaded bolts located near the Ethernet port to secure the battery pack in place. These bolts should be aligned with the specific mounting brackets designed for the terminal board type. Adjust the position of the bracket to prevent any right angle force from being applied to the DC-62 pin connector that connects the battery pack to the terminal board. This adjustment is usually a one-time requirement throughout the entire product's lifespan.

According to your system configuration, connect one or two Ethernet cables to the package. PHRA packages can run effectively on any port. In the case of dual connections, the usual approach is to connect ENET1 to the network associated with the R controller.

Power on the PHRA battery pack by inserting the power connector located on the side of the battery pack. It should be noted that you do not need to insert this connector when the cable is powered off, as the I/O battery pack has an inherent soft start function. This function can effectively manage current surges during power on, ensuring safe and controllable start-up.

Configure I/O packs as needed to customize their operation according to your specific requirements. This step ensures that the PHRA package performs optimally in your application, providing the necessary analog input and output capabilities.

  Analog input hardware

In PHRA (Process Analog I/O Adapter), analog input hardware plays a critical role in processing and interpreting input voltage signals from terminal boards. This important hardware component is designed to accommodate signals from all 10 input channels, ensuring accurate and reliable data acquisition.

Key components of analog input hardware

Analog multiplexer module: The core of analog input hardware is the analog multiplexer module. This component serves as a gateway for input voltage signals, allowing for the selection and routing of signals from various input channels. It effectively manages data flow, ensuring access to the correct channel at the right time.

Gain and Scale Selection: The analog input section contains multiple gain and scale options. These choices enable users to adjust the input signal to match the desired range and accuracy, ensuring that the obtained data is both accurate and suitable for the application's requirements. sixteen

Bit to Digital Converter (DAC): In order to convert analog voltage signals into digital data that the system can process, a high-resolution 16 bit DAC is used. This component accurately quantifies analog inputs and converts them into digital values, which can be easily processed, stored, and utilized by the system's control and monitoring functions.

The combination of these components in analog input hardware ensures that PHRA can efficiently and accurately process various analog input signals. It provides the flexibility and accuracy needed to interpret real-world simulated data, making it an indispensable component in applications that require reliable analog signal processing and conversion.

  processor

High speed processor with memory: The core of the processor board is a high-speed processor, supported by random access memory (RAM) and flash memory. This powerful configuration ensures the necessary fast data processing and storage capabilities for system operation and management.

Dual independent Ethernet ports: Two completely independent 10/100 Ethernet ports with connectors, providing multifunctional and reliable network functionality. This feature enables seamless communication and data transmission between networked devices or systems.

Hardware watchdog timer and reset circuit: Hardware watchdog timer and reset circuit are important safeguard measures to prevent potential system failures and ensure system stability by monitoring operations and initiating resets when necessary.

Local environmental temperature sensor: The processor board combines with the local environmental temperature sensor to actively monitor temperature changes, which helps stabilize the system and prevent overheating issues.

Infrared serial communication port: The infrared serial communication port provides additional connection options, allowing compatible devices to communicate with the processor board through infrared technology.

Status indicator LED: The status indicator light emitting diode (LED) can visually display the operating status of the processor board, which is helpful for monitoring and diagnosis.

Electronic ID function: The processor board has electronic ID function and the ability to read IDs from other boards, enabling identification and verification within the system architecture.

Programmable logic support: This board has a large amount of programmable logic and supports acquisition boards. It can implement various functions and configurations according to needs, achieving efficient data acquisition and processing.

Input power connectors with safety features: Input power connectors equipped with soft start and current limiting functions ensure safe power management, prevent sudden surges, and optimize system stability.

Local power supply and monitoring: The processor board carries the local power supply, which includes sorting and monitoring mechanisms to ensure consistent and controlled power distribution throughout the system.
