VMIVME-2540
The VMIVME-2540 was developed and produced by the industrial automation production series from General Electric. These models were then purchased by Abaco Systems. This series is known as the VMIC/GE Fanuc boards, and were designed for several applications for an industrial line, such as CPU management and Input and Output communications.
The VMIVME-2540 is one of the specific modules of the VMIC/GE Fanuc board, outfitted with the capabilities to operate as an intelligent counter controller. This device is able to count up to 4 Giga Events. It is outfitted with a series of 24 discrete output channels, which are able to be programmed by a variety of on-board jumper module options. These jumpers are able to function through a wide extreme of voltage levels.Once programmed by the VMEbus host, the VMIVME-2540 ICC performs these functions automatically. The on-board CPU maintains data structures in shared local memory for buffering measurements and queueing control commands. Measurement functions are also supported by a Continuous Measurement Mode in which measurements are made repeatedly without host CPU involvement. I/O connections are routed through high-density connectors located on the front panel with support for differential and single-ended signal levels. The user data exchange interface for measurement and generation modes complies with ANSI/IEEE Standard 754-1985 for 32-bit floating-point arithmetic. The 24 output channels are designed to provide a 12-bit resolution. They are able to both source and sink up to 10 milliamperes at +/- a rate of 10 V.
In
order to do offline testing with the VMIVME-2540, the analog inputs are designed
to disconnect from external circuitry.
The VMIVME-2540 module is designed with a VMEbus slave interface, which is able to provide the options of 4, 8, 16, or 24 channels of digital signal measurement and signal generation capability. These possible measurements and signal output functions are applied by an array of integrated system timing controllers, as well as a series of associated interface logic.
